Life

" One thing I've managed to do without any assistance is screw up my Life. And once my board results come out, everyone will know the exact extent to which I have managed to screw up my Life so far "

You know, There is no such thing as screwing up your life.

There is birth and then, There is death.
Everything that comes in between is called Life.

There is no such thing as doing something productive or doing something unproductive.
Because you see, Even when you are doing nothing, you are still killing time.

And whatever you do between birth and death is done only to kill time.

All you do in life is sit around and wait for death.

Dude : Sir, I don't know what to do with my life

Prof : Everyone comes to a place in their life where they feel that way.

Dude : Sir, What will happen to me?

Prof : You will get a graduate degree.
You will get married.
You will buy a house.
You will buy a car.
You will have kids.
You will die.

Dude : * blank stare *

Prof : This, we know, will happen to everyone.

Dude : But...But sir, I want to be Rich.

Prof : But that is not in your hands.

Dude : Sir, I want to be popular

Prof : Alas! That isn't in your hands either.

Dude : But Sir, I want to be happy!

Prof : Now THAT, is in your hands.
Happiness is a choice.
And you can choose to be happy.

* Silence *

Dude : This guy doesn't know shit!

We've come into this world empty handed and we're going to leave it empty handed. Remember that - it helps me, at times.

Aw. Nice post. And you're actually right.
BTW, is the 'dude' you mentioned, by any chance, is you? Cuz he reminds me of you very much! :P

@ Another brick in the wall

No, I'm not the 'dude'!
'Dude' is the guy who inspired the post.

But wherever life takes you - between the points of empty-handedness an earlier commenter talked about - remember to always carry a hanky.
Board exams? Are you currently in the process of reflecting upon your board exam performance?
If so, let me assure you that it will cease to matter sooner than you think.
Oh, and by the way, thanks so much for commenting on nearly all the recent posts on my blog. I'm glad you liked them, and hopefully, sometime in the near future, I'll update the thing.

and you were telling me to stop being depressed.
Don't worry, we'll all float on alright. (Float On - Modest Mouse)

@ Ghanshyam Nair

I've stopped reflecting upon my performance in my board exams. The results came up and turns out, I'm quite a genius! :D
You have a nice blog! You should update it more often and when you do, Let me know! :)

@ Abhishek

I wasn't depressed. This is just something I found amusing.

User Manual? I like the first one though; waiting to die. Typical theist philosophy. Wade through life somehow and reach death for its afterlife that is more precious. Jean, when did you attain enlightenment?

Raveena said...

@ Adithya

Enlightenment? Pfft!

This isn't my philosophy. If I went by this, I'd have died 3 months, 4 days and 16 hours ago of Chocolate cake overdose BECAUSE I would have lived everyday like it was my last!

Adithya said...

Well my apologies to you then Jean. I apologise for having credited you with a wisdom that I presumed was an original thought from you.

Raveena said...

@ Adithya

Your sarcasm burns me. I'm dying.

Do you have any chocolate cake on you to offer me before I pass on to the world beyond?

1st part, is exactly my opinion on life.

Raveena said...

Ha ha... Rather a morbid take on life, don't you think?!

Sam said...

Yea, it is. But I can't help but feel, that its the truth. :P

I mean, I have this post on the whole life thing, but I haven't posted cuz its kinda hopeless.

Raveena said...

I think if I reply to what you said, we will end up having a conversation/argument about Life and really, that is not a good thing for me.

Sam said...

Hmm... i mean i dunno.. i think we just like to feel important. its a need of ours, which is why we believe in stuff like destiny/ our purpose in this world. That there's not really an angel trying to keep a balance in the world.. that stuff happens, and it just happens, which essentially means it doesn't matter what happens.

I mean human suffering has gone to devilishly insane lengths, like the dark ages in europe, the 100 year old british oppression in india, the German oppression of the jews - the concentration camps, its still there in africa, afghanistan, bihar.. i dunno. :P

tell me your views waise!

Who's views are these btw?

Raveena said...

No, Sam! You are not making me have this conversation about the futility of life and death.
It could cause serious injuries to certain people/aspects of my life.

Raveena said...

This was part of a conversation I had with someone I knew a long time ago. It was funny, in a very dark way. So I put it up.

If I lived by this, I would be dead now. Drug overdose, mostly.

Sam said...

Its okay really! There's enough beauty in this world to see. Some so exquisite, that it has to be the creation of a mind, and not randomness. Everything about nature and science, the precision and accuracy which causes what happens, points to an intelligence.

Maybe it all adds up, in a way we don't realise. ( <- I still don't actually believe that. :P But I know, my perception/belief of the world, is a sickeningly fucked up scary thought, and believin it can be damagin. Don't let me get to you at all!)

Raveena said...

You should watch American Beauty. The movie is like art in motion.

And yes, it has some relevance to what is being said here.

Sam said...

I will! :)

This is the worst post from you ever. Hopefully it will be the worst forever. But you knew I'd say that. Just not in public.

All this crap about not screwing up your life is fluff. Yes, you can screw it up. Ask the millions that do it repeatedly, everyday. But if you have the delusions of after-life then I guess you will be okay. And if you do, Godspeed and can I have your parachute?

Raveena said...

Yes, Bag, I knew you'd say that.

I think I should include a disclaimer somewhere that these are not my views, just something I found interesting.

And aww, you're reading my blog!! :)
